Historical archeology conference participants visit OCA

Experts on the x-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis technology demonstrated the use of this cutting-edge technology to the participants of the 2008 Society for Historical Archaeology conference organized in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The workshop took place at Office of Contract Archeology's laboratory. Richard Lundin, of Wondjina Research Institute from Glendale, AZ, Claudia Brackett, a chemical archeological consultant from Jamestown, CA, Deblyn Papella, a Technical Sales Representative for Thermo Scientific Niton Analyzers from Tustin, CA, and Julia Kleyman, a Archaeometrey Specialist for ThermoFisher Scientific of Billerica, MA demosntrated the advantages of XRF Analyzers. An XRF Analyzer was used to identify chemical elements present in prehistoric and historical-period ceramics, metal, and various lithic artifacts.
